How important is Keyword Selection for SEO?

Chris Burres:               Hi and welcome to the SEO Podcast: Unknown Secrets of Internet Marketing. My name is Chris Burres, owner of E-Webstyle.

Charles Lewis:                         I am Charles Lewis, your internet marketing specialist.

Chris Burres:               Thank you, guys for tuning in. You are listening to the most popular SEO Podcast on iTunes. This is podcast number 152. Yes. As always, there is a tip from the previous podcast. The tip from the previous podcast, you know this one.

Charles Lewis:                         You didn’t know it?

Chris Burres:               You did not contribute to this particular tip.

Charles Lewis:                         Okay.

Chris Burres:               Are you when — even with the — the first three important tasks are keywords, keywords, keywords. With all internet marketing, your — you really need to be focus on keywords. So that’s even true. I wouldn’t take more or so. Certainly, not less so with PPC.

Charles Lewis:                         Yeah.

Chris Burres:               Last podcast obviously was about PPC. For those of you out there who don’t know and I have a hard time imagining there are any. PPC stands for pay-per-click.

Charles Lewis:                         Yes.

Chris Burres:               We also lump it in to something called PFE Pay for Exposure with on remarketing banner ads pay-per-click.

Charles Lewis:                         Yeah, I called it paid search.

Chris Burres:               Paid search.

Charles Lewis:             PFE, paid search. Anytime you’re paying to get traffic through the search engines, then — yeah, I called it pay search but PFE, I like that one too.

Chris Burres:               Remember, we are your friendly local neighborhood top position snatchers where our mantra is…

Charles Lewis:                         [Singing] “Don’t be a douche.”

Chris Burres:               “Don’t be a douche.” Your voice sounds so much better than snatcher, my snatchers. If you’re at some sort [Audio Glitch] tweet, you need to tweet right now. Pick up that phone. How’s the podcast? Post something. Pick it up. Go over to your Twitter account and you will tweet…

Charles Lewis:             #SEOPodcast152. Make sure you tag us at it @ewebstyle, that way we’ll — we can check it. We can, you know, retweet it. We can reply to you and — and I appreciate it if you’re doing it.

Chris Burres:               I’ve got to be honest, there’s no tear for this one. We have 7,000 downloads per week.

Charles Lewis:                         Yes.

Chris Burres:               We have 275 likes on Facebook. [Laughter] I’ll just leave that —

Charles Lewis:                         Yeah —

Chris Burres:               … the way it is.

Charles Lewis:                         Yeah, I’m not sure if it’s good or bad. [Laughter]

Chris Burres:               It’s better than 10. And now for our section the Algorithm Cataclysm. We don’t have any. [Laughter] And reviews. So we got a couple of good reviews. There are no — oh, what happened? [Audio Glitch] read it next time. [Audio Glitch] just makes me hungry. We’ll read that one next time. And [Laughter] here’s two reviews that we’re actually I mean —

Charles Lewis:                         Are you going to say cataclysm like that everytime?

Chris Burres:               Yeah. [Laughter] It’s just —

Charles Lewis:                         You have to.

Chris Burres:               Yeah.

Charles Lewis:                         You have to say it like that.

Chris Burres:               There’s have been test in it [0:03:06] [Phonetic] has been set. So here is the first review. “Great SEO info.” This is actually only four stars. Clara Mary, Marie. Clara Marie. “Up-to-date SEO information in a rapidly changing field. I love it on Stitcher.” Thanks, Clara Marie. Hit us up on —

Charles Lewis:                         They get it from Stitcher?

Chris Burres:               Yeah. Stitcher, I guess that’s mostly on Android or — yeah, I would imagine if you’re on Apple device, then you’re probably using iTunes. And Clara, go ahead and send us an e-mail so we can give you a little bit of link love and certainly [Punch] is already in order.

Charles Lewis:                         Punch in the face.

Chris Burres:               Here’s the next one. This is from Jonathan Roseland. “This SEO Podcast is the shiznit magnifico.”

Charles Lewis:                         Magnifico.

Chris Burres:               Yeah. Here we ago. Charles is trying to read this earlier. I was like, no, no. We got to have on-air reaction because this is a really good review. It is five stars. “This is SEO —

Charles Lewis:                         [Singing] Five stars.

Chris Burres:               … podcast is so gangster. I feel like I should — it should include instructions for opening a bottle of champagne while in a high-peed chase with the police.”

Charles Lewis:                         Oh, Diddy and Biggie.

Chris Burres:               [Laughter]

Charles Lewis:                         You know, us.

Chris Burres:               “They drop SEO knowledge bombs like a B-29 over Nagasaki in 1945.”

Charles Lewis:                         Oh, that’s what they need it. Look —

Chris Burres:               [Laughter] I have already seen some traffic increase as result from the podcast for his blog Limitless Mindset. Go check that out. I haven’t had a chance yet.

Charles Lewis:                         Limitless Mindset, okay.

Chris Burres:               “The altro song is awesome too. Who is that by?” It’s by CTC, Circle the Cat. It’s actually a friend of mine who is a cat, who plays drums and there’s a circle of them and the band is now on a straight line.

Charles Lewis:                         Not a circle. Yeah.

Chris Burres:               [Laughter] So we’ve had some people asking about that. I’ve been getting —

[0:05:01]

Charles Lewis:                         A lot of people asking that.

Chris Burres:               Yeah, I think — get — getting back to them. I mean — I mean this is an SEO podcast, the extro song — I mean, it’s also an intro and extro song is Goldmine. That’s the title. So you know, it’s just a very apropos. “Also which episodes do you recommend for vanquishing bounce rates? I will be listening to your other podcast, Unknown Secrets of SEVO Analysis.” We haven’t mentioned that in a while.

Charles Lewis:                         Yes.

Chris Burres:               We’re actually haven’t had a chance to do an analysis in a while. We will be getting back to that shortly, a way to prevent bounce rates.

Charles Lewis:             I’m not sure which one [Laughter] we need to go what. But — you know, we want to put – if a bounce rate is a problem, I think you need to identify first why people are bouncing, you know, because in some instances a bounce can be a good thing. You know, if — if you’re sales process is in low, if people — if their site visit is within the grasp  of some information real quick they need to contact you or fill out a form or something like that and then leave and so be it. You want a high bounce rate. But if your site is informational and you need people to read pages of content and —

Chris Burres:               While watching video.

Charles Lewis:             … watch a video and take some action and do this and do that and your bounce rate is high, then you may want to reconsider the path that it takes to get to the content you want to feature and or your layout. People may just be having a hard time finding what you need them to find and so they’re bouncing. And regardless to which podcast, all of them [Laughter], I mean I have no clue which one we address bounce rate on.

Chris Burres:               Yeah, we kind of mention it here and there and just to reiterate what Charles just said, you know, we’re one of the few web design and internet marketing companies that will say, we’ll spend tons of times on your website and we desperately want them want for our users —

Charles Lewis:                         From sites —

Chris Burres:               … to not spend time on the site because we’d rather than pick up the phone and give you a call, typically, you would also. We’d rather than fill out a newsletter and then maybe for us and see some more stuff and at least fill a newsletter. So you know, fill out a form so that they can start get on your mailing list.

Charles Lewis:                         Yeah.

Chris Burres:               I was going to add one other thing, oh, focus on what — what it is your CT — CTR or CT — is it — no, it’s CTA.

Charles Lewis:                         Brain find [0:07:16] [Phonetic]? [Laughter]

Chris Burres:               Yeah, focus on your CTA call to action, right? So that’s something that can help reduce your bounce rate if you’re — you know, if somebody is continually moving through your site, it’s very hard for them bounce. And so if your initial page that they’re landing on has a really strong CTA, then — then that will help a lot. So focus on your CTA and everything else. This is on our Facebook page. I thought it was hilarious. “You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.” So go check this out on our page. “Because I always back up my rage with facts and documented sources.” This is from the Credible Hulk. [Laughter] Isn’t that great? I love that. That is on our Facebook. You can find us and follow us and harass us, hound us.

Charles Lewis:                         Oh, okay.

Chris Burres:               [Laughter] And there was another —

Charles Lewis:                         Yeah, hound and —

Chris Burres:               Hound us [Laughter] at facebook.com/ —

Charles Lewis:                         ewebstyle.

Chris Burres:               twitter.com/ —

Charles Lewis:                         ewebstyle.

Chris Burres:               youtube.com/ —

Charles Lewis:                         [Singing] ewebstyle.

Chris Burres:               Ooh, that — like a glow to it. That was good.

Charles Lewis:                         That was good. Yeah, I was facing that way.

Chris Burres:               [Laughter] Also you can — I didn’t know — that I didn’t know is like a volume.

Charles Lewis:                         Yeah.

Chris Burres:               And you can also send us an e-mail, podcast@e —

Charles Lewis:                         He did, yeah.

Chris Burres:               Go check out that video.

Charles Lewis:             You know, cool interview. We had a great time. We talked about, you know, SEO. A matter of fact, I’ll go repost the link afterwards at Facebook and in Twitter and unless you guys going to check it out.

Chris Burres:               He’s actually interviewed Wozniak.

Charles Lewis:                         He interviewed a lot of people.

Chris Burres:               Yes, right and a lot of them.

Charles Lewis:                         I went to his site.

Chris Burres:               Yeah.

Charles Lewis:                         This —
