How Should I use SEO?

Charles Lewis:                         [Laughter] Okay.

Chris Burres:               Hi and welcome to the SEO Podcast Unknown Secrets of Internet Marketing. My name is Chris Burres, owner of E-Webstyle.

Charles Lewis:                         Charles Lewis, your internet marketing specialist.

Chris Burres:               You are tuning to the most popular SEO podcast also internet marketing podcast on iTunes that is because of you, you, Bill, you, you, Tom, Frank, Quann. We have to get some international names in there as well —

Charles Lewis:                         Yeah.

Chris Burres:               … because we have actually been downloaded in at least 76 different countries. As always, a tip from our previous podcast, if you market events or products, make sure you understand and use microdata.

Charles Lewis:                         Yeah.

Chris Burres:               And I know it’s been two weeks. [Laughter]

Charles Lewis:                         [Laughter] Two weeks and a vacation.

Chris Burres:               And a vacation and a few drinks. [Laughter]

Charles Lewis:                         Oh, oh God.

Chris Burres:               Few gallons of —

Charles Lewis:             Yeah but if you — you know, use microdata when you can. A lot of times it’s not possible or in the best way to help your site rank but if you can, you got access to your HTML file, you’re doing E-commerce, you need something to give you that edge and microdata could possibly be it.

Chris Burres:               And if that sounds unbelievably foreign to you, go back and listen to podcast number 159. Remember we are your friendly local neighborhood top position snatchers where our mantra is —

Charles Lewis:                         “Don’t be a douche.”

Chris Burres:               I’m going to slide this microphone over closer to you. Hopefully, that’s not too loud and I do not disconnect [Laughter] because we have some reviews. And one of them is actually —

Charles Lewis:                         Will probably be about that.

Chris Burres:               Well one of them is a previous review. So I won’t go in to that one. It does talk about audio quality and it’s the one and only review where they mentioned you and I specifically and have no idea of who you are. [Laughter] They say, “And the guy who introduces himself second.” [Laughter]

Charles Lewis:                         Wow.

Chris Burres:               [Laughter]

Charles Lewis:                         That’s —

Chris Burres:               Degrading. [Laughter] Yeah, it’s about time. It’s like 5 to 1, all right? And I think that —

Charles Lewis:                         Yeah — keeps winning and I —

Chris Burres:               Now you know how it feels. [Laughter] All right, so here’s a review. This was on iTunes. It’s simple and we appreciate it when you do it. Go on to iTunes, step number one. Write a review, step number two. Three, if you choose, optional, it’s only two steps. Step three, send us a note letting us know that you wrote a review and you could send that note to podcast@ —

Charles Lewis:

Chris Burres:               And we’ll give you some link love and probably you’ll hear this [Punching Sound] in the middle of the night which will represent a punch in the face. So here’s the podcast, “I love the show, must listen. Five stars.” This is from Gerald Dehacker [0:03:17] [Phonetic]. “I’m not sure what people are talking about when they say it’s poor sound quality or they don’t like the banter at the beginning. Don’t change a thing, emphasized, in fact I listened to a couple of casts, podcasts without Chuck and I felt cheated.”

Charles Lewis:             [Laughter]

Chris Burres:               That’s good. “Awesome SEO information.”

Charles Lewis:                         That’s what’s up —

Chris Burres:               “Since I’ve found this podcast, it is a must-listen, only wish you guys had a daily web show. Love it.”

Charles Lewis:                         Ooh, daily?

Chris Burres:               Yeah, yeah.

Charles Lewis:                         Well first of, [Punching Sound]

Chris Burres:               Right in —

Charles Lewis:                         So what was — Gerald —

Chris Burres:               Gerald Dehacker [0:03:50] [Phonetic] [Punching Sound].

Charles Lewis:                         Yeah, punch in the face to you.

Chris Burres:               This is like [Punching Sound].

Charles Lewis:                         Probably won’t be getting a daily show.

Chris Burres:               Yeah.

Charles Lewis:             And just — it sounds phenomenally awesome but frankly, there’s enough content we probably could do it daily. But yeah, it won’t happen.

Chris Burres:               Yeah, we got to work. We got a work. Remember that song?

Charles Lewis:                         No, I don’t.

Chris Burres:               [Laughter]

Charles Lewis:                         I was trying to. I thought I’d be but —

Chris Burres:               It was — it was about models like on the catwalk, I’m too sexy for the shirt. Remember that one?

Charles Lewis:                         Yeah, I remember that one.

Chris Burres:               Same one.

Charles Lewis:                         Okay.

Chris Burres:               [Laughter] That’s why you kind of remember it. The next review, “Great content, entertaining hosts. Five stars.” This is from — see if you can help me with this Scop Inskizel [0:04:39] [Phonetic].

Charles Lewis:                         Yeah, Scop Inskizel [0:04:39] [Phonetic].

Chris Burres:               I like that.

Charles Lewis:                         No, okay. It is Scop Inskizel [0:04:43] [Phonetic].

Chris Burres:               Scop Inskizel [0:04:39] [Phonetic], okay. “This is a great podcast on SEO. The hosts’ entertaining commentary makes the topics much more enjoyable. As an IT professional, I find the information technical enough to be practical but not so much as to put me to sleep.

I also enjoyed the business anecdotes that illustrate their points and how SEO should be used. By far though, the like/dislike terminology of punch in the face, kick in the chins is priceless —

Charles Lewis:                         Is priceless.

Chris Burres:               Priceless.

Charles Lewis:                         That’s what’s us.

Chris Burres:               “Keep up the great work.” Again, that’s from Scop Inskizel [0:05:17] [Phonetic]. Thank you very much. I’m just happy to remove —

Charles Lewis:                         Can I input there — what addresses, what the reviews.

Chris Burres:               I think — we’ve seen web addresses —

Charles Lewis:                         Yeah.

Chris Burres:               … in review. So if you do write a review make sure you go ahead and add —

Charles Lewis:             Yeah, if you have a web address, leave your web address with the review so we can check it out and see what’s really going on. But yeah, appreciate you, Scop Inskizel [0:05:39] [Phonetic]. Definitely, a punch in the face. [Punching Sound]

Chris Burres:               Also remember to send us an e-mail and you can send us that e-mail at podcast@ —

Charles Lewis:

Chris Burres:               And let us know that you’ve submitted a review. By the way, there’s other ways you contact us. We’re about to cover some Facebook questions, you can find us, —

Charles Lewis:                         ewebstyle.

Chris Burres:      —

Charles Lewis:                         ewebstyle.

Chris Burres:      —

Charles Lewis:                         [Singing] ewebstyle.

Chris Burres:               And then you can —

Charles Lewis:                         Podcast — yeah.

Chris Burres:               E-mail as podcast@ —

Charles Lewis:                         Yeah, you backwards today. That’s the line I’m reading.

Chris Burres:               That’s the line I’m reading? Yeah.

Charles Lewis:                         Yeah.

Chris Burres:               It’s taking over. And one review two weeks ago on G Plus, on our G Plus account. This is from Adreana –

Charles Lewis:             Adreana, okay. It’s on there.

Chris Burres:               Adreana Langston. 3 of 3 quality points. [Laughter] Not stars —

Charles Lewis:             Yeah.

Chris Burres:               “I regularly listen to the podcasts ‘SEO Rockstars’, ‘SEO 101: Learning SEO Basics’ and ‘SEO Podcast Unknown Secrets of Internet Marketing’. Of the three, ‘SEO Podcast’ is the best.’ That’s you have to abbreviate SEO Podcast Unknown Secrets Of Internet Marketing.

Charles Lewis:             Yeah.

Chris Burres:               First, the two hosts have the least annoying voices. [Laughter]

Charles Lewis:             Well, thank you.

Chris Burres:               Wow.

Charles Lewis:             Andrew.

Chris Burres:               That’s awesome news.

Charles Lewis:             Oh, Adreana.

Chris Burres:               Second, the two hosts are actually in the studio together rather than one of them being on the telephone so the other — so other than recently the sound quality of the podcast is consistently the best.

Charles Lewis:             Appreciate it.

Chris Burres:               Apparently, just recently. That’s we’re — keep working on that. And number three, they consistently refer back to previous podcasts you can download in order to dig deeper into some of the topics they are discussing in the current podcast. Ooh, and there’s a fourth, all three podcasts are good but ‘SEO Podcast Unknown Secrets of Internet Marketing’ consistently provides information on which, I, the listener, can take —

Charles Lewis:             Can take —

Chris Burres:               … action.” Wow, that’s —

Charles Lewis:             What’s her name? Adreana?

Chris Burres:               Yeah, Adreana.

Charles Lewis:             Adreana, punch in the face —

Chris Burres:               Right.

Charles Lewis:             … to you. Thank you for the review. That was on G Plus so we’ll —

Chris Burres:               Yes, we are.

Charles Lewis:             … come back, put us in the circle since you’re there and we’ll come back and do the same thing. But more importantly, I’d like to know what actions you’ve taken how they help your site, how they harm your site, hopefully they didn’t, and — and how do you implement it? And then if you could, take a step further, refer to the podcast to help you. Just follow up information.

Chris Burres:               Yeah, the specific podcast. That would be great. Four points, four punches in the face.

Charles Lewis:             [Punching Sound]

Chris Burres:               Let’s move on — we got some Facebook questions.

Charles Lewis:             Yeah, Facebook questions. I got Twitter shout outs, Twitter punches. Punch in the face to Major Love, that’s @MajorLOVEtweets. She says, “Hey Chris and Charles. Loving the solid content, tips, and fantastic banner, banter.”

Chris Burres:               And we have a nice banner too.

Charles Lewis:             Yeah.

Chris Burres:               [Laughter]

Charles Lewis:             Which is blue and green and purple. The second was Philippa Willitts.

Chris Burres:               Okay, yeah. That sounds right —

Charles Lewis:             So I probably messed that up but that’s how it looks. @PhilippaWrites is her Twitter handle. “Starting the day off with the E-Webstyle SEO podcast.” So sorry we’re late today. [Laughter]

Chris Burres:               That reminds me don’t forget if you’re near or some sort of electric device of —

Charles Lewis:             Yes.

Chris Burres:               … Smart phone or computer, a laptop, a PC, a — anything that can actually tweet or Facebook, go ahead and tweet and tweet right now.

Charles Lewis:             Yeah, #SEOPodcast and then tag us — where are we? At 160?

Chris Burres:               160. 160 or —

Charles Lewis:             160, tag us at 160 and then at @ewebstyle or put it on our wall or something like that, that way we’ll know you’re watching, you’re tuning in and we can link up and make the network thing happen.

Chris Burres:               And if you are so inclined, add a link to your website to us.

Charles Lewis:             Yeah, definitely. So we’re talking about Facebook. We brought a Facebook questions. Remember guys to go to Facebook and ask us questions. We have other content as well. We’re going to talk about links today. Frankly, we may get in to that next week because I do want to address these questions.

Chris Burres:               And their good questions. This is — and so don’t go anywhere.

Charles Lewis:             Yeah, this is the meat, right?

Chris Burres:               Yeah.

Charles Lewis:             So that was potatoes at first. Now, we’re on the meat.

Chris Burres:               Oh, I didn’t — wait —

Charles Lewis:             Do you got news?

Chris Burres:               … I got my news. Yeah, I got two news to point in.

Charles Lewis:             Good to know, man, good to know.
